10/11/2018 - OKC, OK — A 16-year-old Oklahoma City male has been arrested for the alleged human sex trafficking of a 15-year-old female.
Semaj Amari Thomas, 16, was arrested Tuesday evening by members of the Oklahoma City Police Department’s Vice Unit and agents with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, Human Trafficking Unit.
According to court records, OCPD and OBN were working in cooperation to investigate prostitution being promoted on the Internet.
After responding to an online ad, undercover officers were directed to a room at the Plaza Inn, near S. I-35 and SE 29th. in south Oklahoma City.
Once inside the room, a male undercover officer met with a female that offered to provide sexual intercourse in exchange for $185. The undercover officer then gave the takedown signal and additional officers made entry into the motel room to effect an arrest.
While searching the motel room for additional individuals and contraband, officers discovered Thomas hiding in the bathtub and holding a loaded pistol in his hand.
Thomas was ordered to drop the weapon and was taken into custody.
While interviewing both the male and the female, they were discovered to be teenagers.
The female was classified as a human trafficking victim and was taken into protective custody. Thomas was arrested and transported to the Oklahoma County Jail. Thomas was booked into jail on criminal complaints of sex trafficking a minor and possession of an offensive weapon while in the commission of a felony crime. Thomas’ initial bond was set at $55,000.
According to jail records, Thomas indicated he resides in a rent house in the 600 block of SW 27th St. in Oklahoma City.
Yesterday a criminal certificate of probable cause was filed in Oklahoma County against Thomas.
